GSU at Aqua 11 Art Miami
Welch School of Art and Design pre-emergent exhibition @ Aqua 11 Art Miami Link to more Aqua Photos
Throngs of art hungry crowds coursed through Aqua Miami last night (Nov 30). The night was an exciting moment for GSU artists. Not only was their art on display for thousands but pieces have been sold by Jim O'Donnell, Bethany Collins, and Meta Gary.
Over the past three years these artists, designers and contemporary art historians have spent thousands of hours honing their thoughts and exploring possibilities. Their creativity is ever present; their energy palpable; their critical intensity is ready to burst onto the world.
Here we are at Aqua.
Thanks to the combined energies of Cheryl Goldsleger, Joe Peregine, Craig Drennen, Maria Gindhart and Kathleen Trella-Newland pre-emergent is already a success and the show just started! Link to more Aqua Photos

DPP Grad: Bethany Collins at the Xchange Gallery
To Be Real is a solo exhibition by Atlanta-based artist and 3rd year DPP grad Bethany Collins to be on display in the Xchange Gallery at The Arts Exchange October 15 – November 5, 2011. The work is “…an exploration of racial identity, authenticity, and definitions, and represents a continued longing for what author Rebecca Walker refers to in her autobiography as the ‘black outline around my body that everyone else seems to have.’” A large-scale chalkboard wall drawing will be accompanied by acrylic and graphite paintings on brown paper bags and un-stretched canvas.
The exhibition will open along with The Arts Exchange Open House, 750 Kalb Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30312, on Saturday, October 15, 4 pm - 8 pm. The public is invited. For further information, call404-624-4211.
